Island Brook

#FlashbackFriday
.
A cool photo of the back of my head 😂 when my hair was funny colours 😁
.
On a beach cliff somewhere down the western coast of Australia
.
A friend took me camping for a long weekend.
We had a tiny old (but fast!) red car and a two man tent
.
At night we slept on beaches and played under the stars. We’d wake up and dive in to the sea. We explored the days away. We’d dance crazy to drum n bass as we drove too fast on never ending roads. We’d stop at cafés along the way, some were nestled in forests, surrounded by the tallest trees! It was my first real taste of life on the road 😆 And I loved it from the very start!
.
At the end he dropped me to ‘Island Brook Estate’, to meet the girls. We were staying on this vinyard for 3 months to complete our regional work so we could extend our visas. When I arrived, it was dark and strange and such a contrast to the last few days. I remember crying as a fell asleep. When I woke it wasn’t so bad and those few months ended up being a great experience!! There were plenty more times during my journey when everything felt dark, lonely and confusing. When my clothes got robbed at a shitty hostel. When I got messed around by my boss & had no money. Constantly searching for ‘my people’. When I broke free but struggled with being alone. All these times were far outweighed by the good times though, the connections I made and the kindness I witnessed.
.
I was a different person then.
It was 6 years ago but it feels like a lifetime has passed between then and now!
.
Happy to have done it all but happy to be where I am right now doing what I love and calling it a job. Close to my friends and family and in a relationship that feels like freedom & home at the same time ❤
.

Looking forward to more adventures in the near future!
